About This Saree

This is a Hot Pink Katan Silk Banarasi Saree (SKU 4775) with a Meena Boota pattern woven using the Kadwa technique. It is handwoven in Varanasi by skilled weavers who have been practising this craft for generations.

Katan Silk is a tightly twisted, pure mulberry silk. It gives the saree a firm body, a clean drape, and a natural sheen. It is one of the finest silks used in Banarasi weaving.

Meena Boota is a pattern tradition of singular refinement in Banarasi weaving — one that brings together two of the craft's most celebrated elements into a single, unified motif of extraordinary complexity. The Boota, already a demanding form in its own right — individual floral or foliate figures, each woven with painstaking precision in gold or zari threads — becomes the vessel for the meena work. Within the body of each boota, coloured silk threads are inlaid by hand, filling the petals, the leaves, and the internal contours of the figure with a palette of colour that transforms the motif from a gold silhouette into something approaching a miniature painting. Each Meena Boota is therefore not one craft but two — the architecture of the Boota and the colour of the meena — executed simultaneously on the loom by a weaver holding both in mind at once. The result is a motif of extraordinary presence: larger than a plain boota by virtue of its colour, more intimate than a Meena Jaal by virtue of its individuality, and more complex than either by virtue of its layering. Scattered across a Hot Pink base — that most electrifying and uncompromising of festive colours — the Meena Boota motifs blaze with a chromatic intensity that is matched only by the technical achievement they represent. Hot Pink does not soften the colour of the meena inlay; it amplifies it, pushing every shade within the boota to its fullest expression. The Kadwa weave locks every thread of gold and every strand of coloured meena in absolute place — clean on the reverse, flawless at every edge, and built with the durability that only true Banarasi handloom delivers.

Hot Pink Katan Silk Saree — Kadwa Meena Boota — Panaya Heritage

SKU 4775 is part of Panaya's Katan Silk Banarasi Saree collection. This Hot Pink saree features the prestigious Kadwa weaving technique with a Meena Boota pattern — individual floral motifs with coloured silk inlay woven within a gold framework, each boota a layered composition of extraordinary craft, set against a blazing Hot Pink silk ground.

Meena Boota occupies a unique position in the hierarchy of Banarasi patterns — it is neither the all-over coverage of the Meena Jaal nor the simplicity of the plain Boota, but something in between and beyond both. Each motif is a world unto itself — gold on the outside, colour within, silk beneath — and scattered across Hot Pink Katan Silk, these worlds multiply into a surface of dazzling richness and festive energy. This is a saree for celebrations of the highest order — for weddings where the colour of the occasion demands to be matched, for sangeet nights that call for something as layered and joyful as the moment itself, and for any woman who understands that the finest things in life are always the ones made entirely by hand.

Every Katan Silk saree from Panaya is handwoven in Varanasi by master weavers carrying generations of craft knowledge. All sarees carry the GI (Geographical Indication) tag and the Silk Mark certification issued by the Government of India.
