About This Saree
This is a Lavender Katan Silk Banarasi Saree (SKU 4140) with a Meena Jaal pattern woven using the Kadwa technique. It is handwoven in Varanasi by skilled weavers who have been practising this craft for generations.
Katan Silk is a tightly twisted, pure mulberry silk. It gives the saree a firm body, a clean drape, and a natural sheen. It is one of the finest silks used in Banarasi weaving.
Meena Jaal is among the most intricate and prized patterns in Banarasi weaving. A continuous lattice — or jaal — of fine zari threads covers the entire body of the saree, interlaced with Meena work: tiny inlays of coloured enamel-like thread in vivid hues such as ruby red, emerald green, cobalt blue, or turquoise. The result is a surface that shimmers and glows from every angle, as if the saree is lit from within. On a soft, dreamy Lavender base — a colour that carries both modernity and old-world romance — the Meena Jaal takes on an almost jewel-like quality, the coloured inlays sparkling against the cool purple silk. The Kadwa weave ensures every segment of the jaal is individually woven and cleanly finished — no loose threads, perfect tension, and edges that remain sharp for decades.
