The Panaya is not a reseller. We are Kamalya Textiles, based in Chowkaghat, Varanasi, working directly with karigar families in the weaving lanes of Lallapura, Madanpura, Alaipura and Jaitpura. Every Banarasi Saree we send to Dubai is woven by hand on a pit loom, in pure mulberry silk with real zari, and carries three separate certifications: the GI tag for Varanasi origin, the Silk Mark for silk purity, and the Handloom Mark for genuine hand weaving. A single saree takes between two weeks and a month and a half on a pit loom. Turn it over and you will see slightly raised threads and small irregularities between motifs — the signature of hand weaving, absent on a machine copy.
Genuine zari feels faintly rough and metallic and darkens gently over the years. Plastic-coated imitation feels slippery and leaves a gold tint on your fingers. We will walk you through the test on a call.

Dubai's Indian community is spread across Bur Dubai, Deira, Karama, Al Barsha, Jumeirah, Dubai Marina and International City, and there is rarely a quiet weekend on the community calendar. From engagement functions and mehendi evenings to grand hotel-ballroom weddings and Diwali celebrations at Global Village, a properly woven Banarasi Saree is still the piece most families reach for when the occasion matters.
Most events in Dubai are held indoors — in banquet halls, hotel ballrooms and air-conditioned community centres — which actually works in favour of heavier silk. A structured Katan or Tissue saree with real zari holds its pleats and catches the light beautifully under chandelier lighting. For daytime functions, mehendi mornings, or outdoor celebrations during Dubai's warmer months, lighter Kora, Organza or Georgette silk is easier to wear for a full day.
One practical note for shipping this far: silk travels well when packed correctly, but it should still be unwrapped from its transit packaging as soon as it arrives, aired briefly, and stored in cotton muslin rather than plastic. Dubai's air-conditioned interiors are generally kind to silk, but keep sarees away from direct AC vents and refold along a different line every few months.

Personal shipments into the UAE are handled under Dubai Customs' standard import rules. Charges depend on the applicable rules and thresholds at the time of import. We include a correct commercial invoice with every parcel.
