About This Saree
This is a Blue Katan Silk Banarasi Saree (SKU 4816) with a Meena Boota pattern woven using the Kadwa technique. It is handwoven in Varanasi by skilled weavers who have been practising this craft for generations.
Katan Silk is a tightly twisted, pure mulberry silk. It gives the saree a firm body, a clean drape, and a natural sheen. It is one of the finest silks used in Banarasi weaving.
Meena Boota is a tradition that sits at the intersection of two of Banarasi weaving's most demanding disciplines — and in that intersection, produces something that neither could achieve alone. The Boota arrives first in the weaver's mind — its form, its scale, its placement across the body of the saree, each figure a considered decision made before a single thread is lifted. Then the Kadwa technique begins to build it: the gold or zari outline of the motif emerging thread by thread, the structure of the figure taking shape in the warp and weft of pure Katan Silk. And then, within this gold architecture, the meena — coloured silk threads drawn by hand into the body of each boota, filling its interior with a palette that transforms the motif from a study in gold into something approaching illuminated manuscript work. Every petal holds a colour. Every leaf carries a shade. Every figure on the saree body is a small, self-contained act of painting in thread. On a Blue base — not the electric blue of the fashion palette but the deep, considered Blue of the Banarasi tradition, the blue of twilight skies and still rivers and the kind of quiet that precedes something important — the Meena Boota motifs achieve a quality of rare and unusual beauty. Blue is a colour that does not rush; it settles, it deepens, and it gives to everything placed upon it a corresponding sense of gravity and refinement. Against this ground, the gold outline of each boota holds its form with absolute clarity, while the coloured meena within glows with an intensity that the surrounding Blue both contains and elevates. The Kadwa weave is the foundation of all of this — locking every thread of gold and every strand of meena in place with the precision that decades of wearing will only confirm.

Blue Katan Silk Saree — Kadwa Meena Boota — Panaya Heritage
SKU 4816 is part of Panaya's Katan Silk Banarasi Saree collection. This Blue saree features the prestigious Kadwa weaving technique with a Meena Boota pattern — individual floral motifs with coloured silk inlay set within a gold framework, each boota a layered composition of exceptional craft, placed across a deep, composed Blue silk ground.
Blue and Meena Boota is a combination that belongs to the quieter, more considered end of the Banarasi spectrum — and it is all the more powerful for it. Where brighter colours announce themselves immediately, Blue works differently: it draws the eye in rather than pushing itself forward, and the Meena Boota motifs scattered across its surface reward that closer attention with a richness and complexity that reveals itself gradually. This is a saree for the woman who dresses with intention — who understands that the most memorable things are not always the loudest, and that craft of this order does not need to compete for attention. It earns it. A distinguished choice for weddings, formal receptions, evening gatherings, and any occasion where depth of character is the quality most admired.
Every Katan Silk saree from Panaya is handwoven in Varanasi by master weavers carrying generations of craft knowledge. All sarees carry the GI (Geographical Indication) tag and the Silk Mark certification issued by the Government of India.
