About This Saree

This is a Dark Pink Katan Silk Banarasi Saree (SKU 4864) with a Jaal pattern woven using the Kadwa technique. It is handwoven in Varanasi by skilled weavers who have been practising this craft for generations.

Katan Silk is a tightly twisted, pure mulberry silk. It gives the saree a firm body, a clean drape, and a natural sheen. It is one of the finest silks used in Banarasi weaving.

Jaal is the pattern of total commitment — there is no selective placement here, no negative space left to breathe, no corner of the saree body where the weaver's hand has not been. From the first thread to the last, the Jaal spreads as a single, unbroken geometric network across the entire surface — gold or zari threads interlocking in a continuous lattice that covers every inch of the silk ground beneath it. To sustain this across metres of fabric, on a traditional pit loom, without a single break in the rhythm or a single deviation from the geometry, is an act of concentration that few crafts in the world demand and fewer still achieve. The Jaal weaver does not work in sections; the pattern is the whole, and the whole must be held in the mind from beginning to end. What this produces is a surface of extraordinary visual unity — not the punctuation of scattered motifs but the continuous, breathing presence of gold across silk, a fabric that shimmers as a single entity rather than as a collection of parts. On a Dark Pink base — that most charged and complex of festive colours, sitting at the precise point where pink acquires depth without losing warmth, where it becomes something richer and more grown than its lighter counterparts while retaining every ounce of their celebratory energy — the gold Jaal finds a ground of exceptional generosity. Dark Pink does not merely contrast with gold; it collaborates with it. The warmth of the pink draws out the warmth of the zari, and the depth of the colour gives the lattice something to push against — a tension that makes the surface alive in a way that paler grounds cannot replicate. The Kadwa weave is what makes the Jaal possible at its finest — every intersection locked, every thread secured, the reverse as clean and disciplined as the face, and a finish built not for seasons but for generations.

Dark Pink Katan Silk Saree — Kadwa Jaal — Panaya Heritage

SKU 4864 is part of Panaya's Katan Silk Banarasi Saree collection. This Dark Pink saree features the prestigious Kadwa weaving technique with a Jaal pattern — a seamless, unbroken full-body lattice of gold or zari threads woven continuously across a warm, deep Dark Pink silk ground that glows with the natural luminosity of pure Katan Silk.

Dark Pink and Jaal is a pairing of particular power in the Banarasi tradition — two things that do not compromise, brought together into a saree that refuses to be anything less than fully itself. The Jaal covers everything; the Dark Pink holds nothing back. The result is a saree of complete, unqualified presence — one that fills the eye, warms the room, and carries with it the full weight of a craft tradition that has been refining this combination for centuries. Neither the colour nor the pattern asks permission, and together they produce something that needs none. A defining choice for weddings, receptions, and any occasion where the woman wearing the saree intends to be the standard against which every other saree in the room is measured.

Every Katan Silk saree from Panaya is handwoven in Varanasi by master weavers carrying generations of craft knowledge. All sarees carry the GI (Geographical Indication) tag and the Silk Mark certification issued by the Government of India.
